FAQS

Your Questions Answered

WHAT CAUSES KNEE PAIN?

Knee pain can come from a multitude of causes but the most common is the joint dysfunction and the arthritic changes that occur after  trauma to the knee. If not allowed to heal properly the knee tends to remain in a state of chronic inflammation. This inflammation is accompanied by swelling, stiffness, pain and a decrease in range of motion. In later stages, if cartilage is allowed to erode we have the begining stages of osteoarthritis in the knee.

IS YOUR TREATMENT SAFE FOR TEEN ATHLETES?

Our protocols and treatments are very safe for teen athletes. Knee joint manipulation, acupuncture, physiotherapy, shockwave therapy, knee decompression and muscle scraping have no serious side effects besides you occasional bruising and soreness after a treatment.

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?

No.  A patient does not need a physician's referral to receive our type of care.

WHAT IS YOUR NEW PATIENT PROCEDURE?

New patients are asked to schedule their initial evaluation by calling us at

(224) 409-4082

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Unfortunately, the insurance companies have not kept up with new research or technology such as shockwave therapy or knee decompression. Although the FDA has approved the use of these therapies and they are widely used in other countries the U.S. insurance companies are still focused on the reimbursement of old and outdated treatment plans.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

Our initial evaluation and treatment cost is $100 ($120 for both knees). Our subsequent hands-on 30-40 minute treatments are $100 for one knee or $120 for both knees and they include manual therapy, muscle scraping, shockwave therapy, acupuncture and are always followed up by a 10-20 minute knee decompression treatment session. Knee decompression sessions themselves cost $60 for one knee or $80 for both knees and last from 10-20 minutes.

HOW DOES A PATIENT PREPARE FOR THEIR VISIT?

It is recommended the patient dress comfortably and preferably wear shorts or clothing giving easy access to the knee joint for treatment.

WHO SHOULD SEE US?

Anyone with a knee problem is a great candidate for our office and treatment procedures.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE USUALLY REQUIRED?

We recommend 4-6 initial hands- on treatments to help prepare the knee(s) to maintain mechanical and physiological changes. Subsequently, we recommend approximately 12-20 automated treatments to help achieve and maintain permanent changes to the knee joint and the surrounding structures.
